Fight it 10k

This last Saturday I participated in a fight against cancer 10k fundraising event. The morning was perfect running weather a bit chilly if your just standing around but perfect for running. My parents came out to support me, I was so grateful to have them there it gave me that extra oomph! My Mom has an awesome camera and photography skills so we got some cute pics. Kurt and the kiddos also were there, so glad Emmitt did not have a tball game- they entertained themselves by running around and petting the various animals around.

The course was a cross country course which means it's not pavement. This was my first run with that type of experience, it was a little challenging. Parts of the course were very much like running at the beach- super soft sand, going uphill leaves for not a whole lot of traction but powered through the best I could. I have been running at least 3 days/week with a friend of mine who I lovingly call "Speedy Gonzales" cause she's quick! She pushes me and the pushing has paid off. We run 6 miles everytime we go and a 10k is 6 point something (ha ha) miles. We run it in an hour minimum, and I finished the race at 51 mins 19 seconds! Good time for me. % I finished second place for the ladies! And 18th overall. Not bad, slowly but surely the tortoise may just become the hare...lol.+

Halfway through about to start my next round- the 10k'ers had to just repeat the 5k course.

I just got this nike shirt a little while ago cause it cracked me up, it says: "As long as your sweating, you're still alive." Good Motto. %

Mardi Gras Bootcamp 5K

This morning I ran a 5K with a few of the girls from my bootcamp. It was AWESOME! I had challenged my girls in bootcamp a while ago to complete a 5k and these ladies rose to the challenge. So much fun, and especially fun just to watch those ladies run it and accomplish it. I was so excited for them as they came across the finish line, and way impressed with their times! The 5K was sponsored by the Students off and running program and was in honor of Mardi Gras so as you crossed the finish line you were crowned with Mardi Gras beads. Thanks ladies for running with me!

*Update: The results are in on the soar site, I completed second in my age division....woo hoo!!
