The Saints Bootcamp Challenge! I am challenging all my bootcamp girls to participate in a 5k. I think everyone has the ability to complete at least one of these in their lifetime and what better motivation than a challenge? I am sharing this on my blog just in case anyone else would like to join in on the challenge. I am giving my girls the option of competing in this Santa Monica/Venice one on 12/11, or if they need a bit more prep time to compete here in Santa Clarita in the March Mardi Gras 5k. Whether near or far you too can take the challenge. Just search for a 5k in your area and get your buns off that couch! So are you up for the challenge? (If your here in town and want to participate, let me know!)
This morning Kurt and I woke up to the daunting task of having to run a half marathon! 13.1 miles to be exact. The race was to begin at 7 am, we put on our Santa Clarita marathon shirts, our race numbers, our trackers on our shoes, and our shorts and off we went. When we arrived we thought we would see a ton of people since according to our clock it was 6:48 am. We forgot about daylight savings so we were quite early. I was freezing which isn't saying much because I get cold easily. We watched the crew of people set up to starting lines and speakers. We danced to some music and waited what felt like forever for the race to begin. I could not believe how many people were there, it was crazy!! They had a full marathon, a 5k, and a kids run all going on too.
First pic of the morning, freezing my bum off and in the middle of a sentence. Love it when Kurt snaps pictures while I'm talking...awesome.
AMPED to start the race!
The announcer gave instructions on where to go for your race, and when to start. He also had a funny little unexpected announcement of informing the crowd that they had a dance competition winner, which there never actually was a competition for. He said that this girl had been there all morning and was dancing and she didn't know it yet but they were watching her, so give a big round of applause for number 1965 winner of our dance competition!! Which just so happened to be.....ME! LOL!! I was laughing so hard and waved my hand around as he then proceeded to interview me in front of the mass amount of people. I curtsied upon winning and laughed it up with Kurt. As soon as he said dance competition I knew I was in trouble. If there's music I will dance come crowd or no crowd, rain or shine...lol. Anyway onto our race, a cute little eleven yr old girl sang the national anthem which was awesome and then bang went to the gun and we were off!
Kurt ran ahead of me a bit to get a good pic of the start of the race. We stayed at a great pace and kept with each other as we chugged along. I was so impressed with the volunteers!! They had so many cute kids helping at the water checkpoints and everything was really well organized. Everything was going wonderfully, we were laughing and joking with other racers and having a good time. I was really nervous about this race because I still have injuries from my car accident and my legs tend to act up a ton. Nothing hurt until about mile 9 when my left knee (which has had trouble since before my car accident) started to feel it was going to give. I was kicking myself for not bringing my knee brace.
But I kept pushing anyway, I was cracking Kurt up by talking to my knee and telling it I did not give it permission to hurt and that it needed to stop now! lol. Kurt was awesome and I loved that he was my running partner! It was really nice to be able to accomplish this race together. We completed it and that's one goal crossed off my checklist! It felt great to run it and I think it would be awesome to do another one. As for the aftermath my knee still hurts but other than that we're great just in need of sleep. Time- 2:37
I had put Alainas hair into braids and when we took it out later that evening, Kurt thought she looked so cute and asked for me to snap some pictures. This is our little Crimp Queen.
This child is always on the go! He never ceases to put a smile on my face with his craziness. His very favorite thing to do as of late is too put his little legs through the bars on the cat walk upstairs and hang out and peek down at the world below. He climbs up and down those stairs to the loft like a mad man! I had to snap a picture one day because it is too funny to watch him swing his little legs and yell down to the family below.
He reminds me of this chunky little pirate on Pirates of the Carribean ride at Disneyland that sits on a bridge swinging his leg down below as you pass under him.
Ever since Maddox turned one and even a bit before he has refused to eat baby food. He wants real food or should I say MAN food because whatever Daddy has is what he wants. He LOVES bananas and it is amazing to watch how fast he scarfes them down! Truly looks like a little monkey.
We had a ton of candy in our home after Halloween and Maddox decided he wanted to be part of the crew, this is him eating his very first sucker. He seemed to really enjoy it, I just took it away once he got down to the gum.
I don't remember ever letting Emmitts hair get quite as long as Maddoxs has but I love Maddoxs hair! It's really pretty and I had alot of fun styling it into a mohawk the other day, longest one I've ever styled! I love this little ham!
We adore our "mad max" and he is such a joy in our home!
This years Halloween was really fun. We started our celebrating out by attending a Halloween dinner at the Primary Presidents home the Thursday evening before. I am a counselor in the Primary presidency at church and it was a dinner for all the adult leaders involved with Primary and their spouses. It was super fun and lots of yummy halloween treats. We had to come up with a game to play so Kurt and I had everyone play Mafia. Mafia always goes over BIG and this case was no exception. We played it for the rest of the evening and everyone had tons of fun. Saturday the 30th we did our main celebration of Halloween, since we do not let our kids trick or treat on Sundays. There was a HUGE party at our church that our primary was in charge of, and another ward participated as well so there were a ton of people. It was really fun, tons of things to do. Lots of games, food, cake walk, a photographer, a bounce house, etc. We decorated our car for the trunk or treat into a giant monster (I'm sad we do not have a photo). We also don't have a family photograph from the party. Since I was helping with the event we didn't have a chance to get our camera out, but we did have the photographer take a family photo so we should have that soon. Kurt and I dressed up as Popeye and Olive Oyl, Maddox was Sweet Pea, Alaina was Dorothy, and Emmitt was the tin man. Sunday, Halloween day we decided to have a get together at my parents home and bring all kinds of Halloween goodies. That morning before heading to church I made some Pumpkin popcorn balls,
Baked pumpkin doughnuts or as Kurt calls them, "triple dippin doughdees"
and triple layer spider dip with bat chips.
The kids had so much fun playing together and watching How to Train a Dragon, and we enjoyed plenty of yummy treats. My sister in law made this really cute Scarecrow out of cupcakes, it was too cute to eat. A great Halloween!
Cute girlies- Courtney as Minnie Mouse, Alaina as Dorothy, and Ava as Lil Red Riding Hood.
The best of friends!
Our little sweet pea
Tin man- sadly we couldn't find his hat before we left the house.
