My little girl turned 5 August 15th and we celebrated with an Alice in Wonderland theme tea party. To start off her day my borther and his wife came over with their 2 girls and we tok a trip to SkyCity. SkyCity is a bounce house playground thing (I don't really know what their officially called) They had a couple different rooms with giant bounce play structures, some with big slides and obstacle courses. Us adults got in on the action, it was awesome! :) We had so much fun!

A pic before we leave for skycity. Alaina, my nieces-Ava and Courtney, and my Maddox.

Courtney about to go through the squeeze obstacle

Ava and Alaina climbing up to the slide

Kurt and Maddox coming down the slide, Maddox made the funniest facial expressions throughout the day especially when he was about to go down the slides. He clenched onto Kurts legs and clenched his teeth, funny boy.

All the kids coming down the slide at the same time

Emmitt getting crazy in the bounce house, lol

Last picture before we head home for the tea party. A couple of Alainas friends from church came over to join in on her tea party.

The table, all set for our guests

Another view of the table and Alainas balloon bouquet.

The table centerpiece. We started off with lunch for our guests which included, croissant sandiwches, fresh fruit salad, macaroni salad, and strawberry punch or "tea". We also had some sweet munchies on the table- Smarties, and neopolitan oreos with tags that read Eat Me. After the girls ate, we played a variety of games. First up was, "Pin the Smile on the Cheshire Cat".

Their all trying to point to their own smile, Thank goodness my friend Jenna came with her boy Chase. She took pictures for me! I don't know how I would've done it. Our next game was the "I'm Late, sack race" so we went outside.

Lined up and ready to go

Jasmine, Alaina, and Ava

Alainas headband kept falling in her face, this made her upset. So I took it off and we started another one, it still was not a fun game for her as evidenced here:

She did not like the fact that Emmitt kept winning and that she couldn't get the hang of it. "It's my party and I'll cry if I want to.." Poor child. So we moved on to the sugar cube toss, this game wasn't very successful.

They had to try and toss sugarcubes into a series of cups, it turned into more of a stand over the cup and drop it in game. ha ha.

The party crew waiting for me to set up musical chairs. (lft to rt)- Megan, Jasmine, Alaina, Ava, and Courtney.

After Alaina took an elbow to the eye from Emmitt, he was booted and it came down to Ava and Alaina. The birthday girl won! It was on to presents and cake.

I had to add this picture, I love Chases face. lol.

Alaina just HAD to have this Rapunzel tower playset, she loves it!

Alaina picked this cake for her birthday, you wouldn't believe how difficult it is to find Alice In wonderland stuff

She had such a great birthday thank you to everyone who came and helped out. My little girl is growing up so fast! Happy 5th Birthday Lainie Bug!

We had this for dinner last night and it's definitely among the top salmon recipes I have made, so dang delicious! Try it tonight. I got this recipe from fitness magazine.com which means it's healthy too!
Ingredients:
4 Tb lime juice
4 garlic cloves (I only used two)
2t chili powder
2t ground cumin
3t olive oil
4- 5 oz skinless salmon fillets
1 1/2c frzn corn kernels
1 red bell pepper, thin sliced
1 poblano pepper, thin sliced
1/2 small red onion, thin sliced (I used a sweet onion)
salt
pepper
1/3 c light sour cream
2 Tb chopped fresh cilantro
Preheat oven to 425. Mist baking pan with cooking spray. In a small dish mix together 2 Tb lime juice w/ garlic, chili powder, cumin, and 1t olive oil. Add salmon and turn to coat, let it sit.
Meanwhile, in another bowl combine corn, bell pepper, poblano pepper, and onion with the remaining 2t olive oil, Transfer corn mixture to a baking dish and spread into a single layer.
Remove salmon from marinade, and arrange on seperate baking dish. Drizzle the corn mixture with the remaining salmon marinade. Season salmon and corn with s&p. Roast in oven 8-10 mins, or until fish is cooked through.
**My variation: I took the veggies out of the oven when they had about 5 mins to go and transferred them to the stovetop to grill. The onions cooking in the oven are a bit raw to my liking the veggies tasted sooooo yummy grilled and they really are a great combo together.**
Mix together the sour cream, cilantro, and remaining 2 Tb lime juice. Serve a drizzle of cream over the fish. mmmm.
