Dana Point Vacation

I probably should just do a vlog of our trip since it's probably alot to type but I'd rather type right now. Our vacation was lots of fun, and also a little stressful. The first couple days all 3 of our kids were fighting colds, Maddox more than the other 2. The first night was rough we got Maddox a port a crib thing from the resort and it was really hard so he slept terrible plus he had a fever. The next morning Kurt & I were very sleep deprived and a little feisty. We went on this vacation with Kurts Mom and sister Eliana, so we met up with them in the morning in the game room. Kurts Mom made some yummy breakfast and we all played pool or ping pong for a while. Emmitt loved playing pool with Grandma and Maddox had a fun time smashing the ping pong paddles around. The majority of our vacation we spent either at the pool or at the beach, or even in the room letting Maddox catch up on sleep. Kurt and I didn't get to do a whole lot of activities together which is to be expected when you have a baby who needs to nap. The ones we did do were the most fun though, like running along the beach and playing ping pong together. One morning Lark was nice enough to watch the kids while Kurt and I went for a run it was really nice to be together and look out at the beautiful water. After our run we took our shoes and sock off and walked along the sand it felt like a foot massage and the cool water felt great on our toes. We went to dinner one of the evenings with both of Kurts parents- his Dad was able to make it down for a night to hang out. We ate at this yummy restaurant called Kings Fish House, they have this macadamia crusted halibut with orange ginger sauce that is so darn good. There's so much little detail I could go into but it would take forever and the pictures I'm sure speak for themselves, so let's just say our vacation was so wonderful filled with sand, sun, food, and relaxation. The best part was having Kurt all to myself with no distraction from work at all.

this is how our vacation looked for a couple days, lol- poor pitiful sickie.

Emmitt playing pool like a pro

I was taking pictures of how cute Maddox was asleep and realized he and Kurt are in the same exact position, I did not prop Maddox that way nor did Kurt. ha ha.

On our run together

Good 4 mile bonding time

Checking out the waves

Little stud walking to the pool

Ah shoot this was so funny, so Lark and I are in the adult jacuzzi which was REALLY hot, and Kurt wanted to take a picture and every picture I could not for the life of me focus and look up at him, the steam was burning my eyes and I kept making this popeye face. So then we were laughing our heads off cause I kept making this funny face. In order to take a normal picture we had to move to the other side of the spa where the jets weren't working as well so there wasn't as much steam.

Ahhh much better..

Emmitt and Alaina trying to boogie board on their own

A swingset on the beach, what could be better?

3,2,1 blast off

In the cool of the pool

While we were all changing after a long adventure at the pool, Maddox passed out just like this standing up! Resting his head on the living room chair standing in between the chair and the couch pull out bed. I'd say he's tired.

The monster burrito I brought Kurt back from this mexican place called Carmelitas. Who will win Man or Burrito?

It's a no contest, Man wins! And now he's good for the next 3 days...ha ha

Elianas little friend gave these cute shades to Alaina

Happy Summering!

Leighton Meester Concert

Last night my awesome husband watched the babies for me so I could attend a concert in Beverly Hills/Santa Monica area with my good friend Jenna. I had heard about it on Twitter and bought tickets right away. Leighton Meester, for those who don't know, stars on the tv show Gossip Girl and the movie Country Strong along with a couple others. Yes, I admit I am a fan of Gossip Girl. I love it actually and Leightons character is probably my fave. Her love of Audrey Hepburn movies show she's a girl after my own heart. Anyway, she has started to dabble in the music biz and she has a beautiful voice. You can get an inkling of her voice on Country Strong where she sang all her own songs. This concert was different than the music you can find of hers on the net, she has some country songs and some pop songs but this show was more acoustic music. Totally loved it! She played with a band called Check in the Dark who were also awesome. It was fun to go with a girlfriend, Jenna is a fun girl and we always have a good time together.

Cute TINY Leighton- ya my camera sux.

Check in the dark, they opened for her and also were her band for the night. The lead singer did a cute duet with her as well.

BeeYahh

"BeeYahh"---translation---banana. Maddox loves bananas, I don't remember Emmitt and Alaina being so attached to one food like this boy is. You would think he was a monkey when you consider how often he wants a banana. I can honestly say bananas are his favorite food.

Memorial Day

I just realized I never blogged about our Memorial Day, so better late than never. Our church did a Memorial Day breakfast honoring the veterans in our community. I was hoping that my Dad and brother could come down and go with us but they had to work. (For those who don't know I have alot of marines in my family- my grandpas, my Dad, my brothers, etc.) It was a really nice event, they had some patriotic musical numbers and served a big breakfast. I spent the majority of it chasing Maddox around making sure he wasn't getting soaked. The celebration was outside and the sprinklers had just come on the one side of the building so there was a bit of a flood going on in the grass area. And of course, the kids thought it was the coolest thing. I got a kick out of watching these three little guys run around together.

Chase (my buddy-he calls me Mimi it is the cutest thing), Maddox (my munchkin), and Oliver (this cute boy cracks me up).can you hear my man voice on the video? I had this voice issue for two weeks.

They are the best of buds, they are all pretty much the same age and go to nursery together.

Kurt took theses pictures of the kids when we were out in the garage ready to leave, I love them.

After the breakfast we spent a little while at home before heading to the aquatics center! Our kids LOVE the aquatics center and frankly so do we. It is awesome and just a couple bucks for the family to go. Memorial Day was their first opening day for the summer, I thought it would be super crowded but it wasn't at all it was really nice. Emmitt got to go on the big water slide for the first time, he finally made the height requirement. He was so excited! I walked him over and sent him up the stairs, I could tell he was a little nervous but did it anyway, he came flying out of that thing! The look on his face was like, "Whoa whoa" lol. He said he loved it and that he went so FAST! Days like these make me so grateful for my little family. My children and husband light up my world. Reflecting on all of the great things that we enjoy in this life make me grateful for those who fight to protect our freedoms. The sacrifice their families and they themselves make. And continually grateful to our Heavenly Father.

8 year Anniversary

Today, June 7th, Kurt & I celebrated our 8 year anniversary. Crazy how 8 years can seem so short and long at the same time. On one hand I can't remember life before being married and being a Mom, and on the other hand I think, "really that's all, just 8?" Today was awesome I really wasn't expecting much just because we have alot going on this summer and things we are planning and saving for, so the casual dinner and movie or "hey Happy Anniversary" and some love and kindness would have sufficed. I had to teach Zumba up in frazier this morning and then hung around to pick up Kurts little brother per Kurts request. (which told me he had something up his sleeve) I honestly thought we were just going to dinner or something. Our first stop was the bank cause, hey money doesn't grow on trees right? :) After the bank Kurt pulled into this little shopping center and told me to wait there, he came back out with these custom made shirts that looked like this:

The front side

The back side- can you crack the code?

So a little background behind the shirt thing- on our 2 year anniversary I made us shirts that had a pic from our wedding and a Our 2nd anniversary written on them. I made them to wear to Magic Mountain because that was where we were going to be spending the day and thought it'd be cute to wear matching shirts. Anyway, so Kurt remembered this and has been wanting to go back to Magic since we moved here in Santa Clarita. He put his thinking cap on and created these and decided we'd go to Magic and since we live right here get season passes. Our first objective once in the park was go straight to X. We had not been back to Magic since our 2nd anniversary and on that fateful day 'X' was closed. :( Since that time they replaced the original 'X' with 'X2' don't ask me what the difference is cause I have no clue. So we booked straight for it this time to see what all the hype was about. Anywhoo sort of a long line but we entertained ourselves by getting a bit freaked out watching others begin their journey on the coaster. I was a bit nervous, I won't lie- my tummy wasn't feelin too good. After riding it I can honestly say, that ride was straight awesome! No other way to describe it, I have never been on a coaster like that before in my life.

This is the look of fear and every muscle clenching the seat so I don't fall to my death. (I had a little too much wiggle room.)

The seats tilt and flip you here and there while the coaster goes nuts, total craziness. It was so much fun, Kurt and I were probably the loudest ones on the ride, we were hooting and hollering even while the coaster was sitting idle and we were all waiting to exit. lol. FUN FUN!! After that we felt like it was sort of pointless to ride anything else since nothing would compare. The park was closing in an hour so we went on log jammer in which I was soaked. I know with water rides you expect to get a little wet but this giant wave came up and drenched me entirely. After that fun experience we left the park on to some more relaxing things.

We had some grub at our favorite restaurant Black Angus where we ordered soup and salad and some zucchini. I love their bread so darn good and their potato soup is the best!! Then it was off to the theater to see X Men First Class. In my opinion the movie was alright not great. You definitely can't play the comparison game because it is a totally different cast. My problem was the same issue I have with most film sequels/prequels they tend to trash it up to bring more attention to it and get viewers in. WHY??!! X Men is just that-- X Men. NOT a bunch of bimbos half naked. Goodness Gracious, there's no decency anymore. No respect for women and certainly not any for themselves. I could go on forever on the subject such a pet peeve. Take me back to the days of Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn where women had class. Moving on...

All in all today was perfect and I adore my husband. I've learned plenty along our journey together and the road hasn't always been smooth but that's what it's about- growing together, learning from eachother, and changing for the better. The other half of me- my husband, I love you.
