Our little man has finally arrived! Maddox Joshua was born on Oct 4, 2009 at 2:50 am- he weighed in at 8 lbs 1 oz and 20 in long. Talk about one great birthday gift for Kurt! It was quite a whirlwind of a night so here's our story:
Oct 3,2009- we had just finished up celebrating Kurts birthday. I was giving the kids a bath and was having a couple contractions here and there but nothing to be excited about. I went down to bed at about 11pm, by this time the contractions were starting to feel more like the real thing. I was having alot of lower back pain as well. Kurt came down to bed at 11:30 and asked how I was feeling, I was in the middle of a contraction and told him I'd been having a bunch. We decided we'd watch the clock to see how far apart they were. The next one came 5 mins later. Since we have quite a drive to the hospital we decided we'd better call Kurts mom to come sit with the kids so we could head down to the hospital. Within 10 mins my contractions moved to 2 mins apart. Kurt grabbed the hospital bag, carseat, and stroller, and loaded up the car while I walked the house making sure the contractions would keep going. (I'm 5 days late people!)

Once Kurts mom got there we hauled butt down to the hospital. The freeway bumps were NOT fun! We checked in through the ER at 12:30/1am and they brought a wheelchair down to haul me off to labor and delivery. I was definitely ready for my epidural! ;) Since we couldn't preregister they took a while trying to get all my paperwork situated. They hooked me to an IV and the doctor came in to check me out, I was dialated to a 4/5. When they checked me again about ten to fifteen mins later I was at an 8/9. My parents came to the hospital so my Mom could be there for the birth like she has with all our kids. My Dad waited out in the waiting area till our bundle arrived. It's so nice havung my Mom there with me through my labor. The doctor informed me I wouldn't have time for an epidural. At that point I just looked at Kurt like, "OH PLEASE HELP ME". I was definitely nervous to go natural. Kurt had given me a blessing before we left the house though so I knew that everything would be ok and that he was here for me. Kurt was really supportive and awesome through the delivery. At 2:50am we had our little guy!! Everything went so fast I didn't even really have any time to think about it. I will say that those who opt to do labor w/o drugs are just plain crazy!! lol. Cause man oh man did that HURT!! :)

We had to stay in the hospital a little longer than we wanted because the baby had a higher risk of getting jaundice given my blood type and his. They actually sent us home with a light for him because he does have a slight case of it. I was told that my blood platelets are low so I have to work on getting some iron in me since I am prone to spotaneous bleeding. We are home though and doing fine. The kids LOVE their new baby brother! Maddox is a joy to have added to our little family.
